The Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government is holding all doors open to women pursuing a political career, as is their right, said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday, marking International Women's Day. "We have always and will always oppose gender discrimination," he told a women's rights summit held by the AKP women's branches. Saying that women's contributions have strengthened the party, Erdogan said that his government has boosted gender equality through constitutional changes.
