As the presidential elections will take place tomorrow in Armenia, Rafi Ovanisyan, the most powerful competitor of President Serj Sarkisyon who is expected to be reelected with a 60% majority of votes, has sent warm messages to Turkey. Rafi Ovanisyan, former Foreign Minister of Armenia and the leader of the Miras Party, who is expected to get 11-13% of the votes, had an interview with a journalist from a Turkish daily at the election headquarters. Underlying that he will attach great importance to normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia in case of his election, Ovanisyan said, "Who says that we are enemies? You are my brother. I grew up in the United States, but my origin is from Turkey. My grandfather is from Erzurum and my grandmother is from Ordu. They told me great many things about Turkey, when I was a child. If you can talk to a man named Ovanisyan today, we owe it to a Turkish family because a Turkish family saved my grandfather's life, when 1915 events were taking place in Turkey. Our people have never been enemies."
