Religious affairs head calls on muslims to help Syria

 

Chairman of Turkey's Religious Affairs Department Prof. Mehmet Gormez said, "I call on all Muslims regardless of their belief and sect, to support the aid campaigns for Syria." Gormez stated that they faced with a human tragedy following the civil conflict in Syria, with many children facing threat of death due to hunger or lack of medicine. Gormez also said people should extend a helping hand to the children and women in Syria, calling on all nongovernmental organizations to support the campaign. He mentioned that many religious officials whom they worked with contacted them and said, "There are 300 Syrian religious functionaries who have sought refuge in Turkey today. Upon their application we realized that we had to initiate a humanitarian aid campaign for Syria."
