The Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, which played a role in making the world learn of the humanitarian tragedy in its city, is slated for an appearance in Turkey on March 25 -- this time to raise its voice for Syrian refugees. The concert will be held under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and with the support of the Prime Ministry Public Diplomacy Coordinator's Office at the Cemal Resit Rey concert hall. Admission to this event is free. Revenue generated through sponsorship deals will be used to help Syrian refugees. Culture and Tourism Minister Omer Celik will be among the audience. In 1994, the orchestra delivered a performance amongst the ruins of Sarajevo City Hall on order of Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic amidst an armed conflict in the country to make the Bosnian tragedy known. Under the baton of conductor Emir Nuhovic, the orchestra will try to attract international attention to the tragedy of the Syrians. "We can understand what the Syrians are going through best," conductor Nuhovic was quoted as saying in a press release announcing the event. "Let us make the scream of the Syrian people heard."
