Science discussed as part of Cankaya table tradition

As part of the Cankaya table tradition which was launched by Ataturk, President Abdullah Gul yesterday hosted Chairman of the Board of Higher Education (YOK) Professor Gokhan Cetinsaya, Chairman of Ataturk Higher Institution of Culture, Language and History Professor Derya Ors, Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) Chairman Professor Ahmet Cevat Acar, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Chairman Professor Yucel Altunbasak, art critic Professor Hasan Bulent Kahraman and columnist Ismet Berkan. Speaking at the event, Gul said that no country could be accepted as a great one if it only transfers technology rather than produces it. During the luncheon, the importance of creating TV programs was underlined in order to ensure that the children and young people love science more through a more popular approach.
