Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said yesterday that the medium-term program and related financial plan might be announced in two days. Speaking at the Investment in Turkey Texas Pacific Group (TPG) Perspective Conference, Simsek said that Turkey has come into prominence with a high growth rate following the economic crisis, adding, "Of course, the basic aim is to maintain high sustainable growth rates. The financial discipline is also important." Simsek said that Turkey needed a new tax reform and that the Income Tax Reform and the Tax Procedure Law would be rewritten soon. He added that the growth rate in Turkey might be higher than that of Europe by two or three times and that they believed the inflation rate in Turkey would be around 5% in 2012.
