Southern province of Mersin set to host 2013 Mediterranean Games

The 2013 Mediterranean Games will be held in the southern province of Mersin, voters in an online poll decided on Wednesday. The games were initially scheduled to be held in Larissa and Volos , Greece , but the cities lost the hosting rights due to Greece 's failure to meet its organizational commitments. The 10-day games will be held in late June and early July of 2013, and more than 3,500 athletes from 24 Mediterranean countries are expected to participate.
