Sweden's Foreign Minister Carl Bildt this week expressed strong support for Ankara's initiative to expand the rights of its Kurdish citizens through democratization. Bildt, whose country now holds the rotating term presidency of the European Union, posted on his blog on Aug. 24 after attending an iftar (fast-breaking dinner) hosted by his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu in honor of participants at a Friends of Democratic Pakistan group (FoDP) meeting in Istanbul.
