Tourists numbers up 18.4 percent in first five months

According to a report compiled by the Mediterranean Tourism Hoteliers Union (AKTOB) based on data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of tourists visiting Turkey has increased by 18.48 percent in the first five months of the year. As tourists to visit Spain were up only 3.9 percent, visitors to Greece were up 6 percent and visitors to Egypt rose 11 percent in the same period, the total number of tourists to Turkey in the first five months of the year reached 10.4 million. Tourists specifically from Russia, Italy, Georgia, Ukraine and Belgium increased about 20 percent in this period. The average increase in the number of tourists from European countries was 10 percent.
