Turkey celebrates may 19 commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day

Thousands of people flocked to the squares on Sunday to mark Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day with colorful activities across Turkey. In order to participate in the celebrations, Youth and Sports Minister Suat Kilic was in Ankara, where he visited Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Ataturk, early in the morning with a group of young people and other officials. Kilic laid a wreath at the mausoleum, signed the special register and observed a moment's silence in memory of the founder of the republic. Afterwards, Kilic went to Anittepe Sports Center to join the ceremony. Acting for Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan due to his official visit to the US, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay received the young people from 81 provinces of Turkey at the new office building of the Prime Minister. Addressing the youth, Atalay asked them to remain self-confident and challenge the future. Atalay also urged them not to keep away from politics.
