Turkey condemns killing of US envoy in Libya

Turkish President Abdullah Gul has condemned the killing of the US ambassador to Libya and three other Americans in an attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi and expressed condolences. In Libya, the US ambassador and three other Americans were killed when a mob of protesters and gunmen angry about the film overwhelmed the US Consulate in Benghazi. In a statement he issued on Wednesday, Gul strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to his US counterpart Barack Obama. In a separate statement, Turkish Foreign Ministry also said it strongly condemns the attack and standing by American people in solidarity. It added that Turkey expects that Libyan authorities will bring those responsible in the death of the American ambassador to justice. Ankara also said the attack was also aimed at security and stability of Libya and peace of Libyan people. Turkey also condemned the any kind of terrorist attack and said it is devoid of any religion and ethnicity, describing terrorist attacks as "crimes against humanity." Ankara also extended its support in rebuilding Libya's security and stability following the tragic incident.
