Turkey is discussing all scenarios and taking all necessary measures over a possible influx of Syrian refugees into Turkey, said Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay ahead of a coordination meeting for Syrian refugees held in Ankara on Tuesday under his chairmanship. Noting that Turkey has already spent TL 2 billion to accept and host the refugees, Atalay said that establishing a humanitarian aid camp on the Syrian side of the border could be an option, if necessity arose. Pointing to the fact that the refugee inflow could increase in the event of a possible strike on Syria, Atalay indicated that the number of Syrian citizens taking refuge in Turkey was expected to exceed 800,000 by the end of the year.
