Cutting the number of nuclear power plants in Europe is among the top goals of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), its chairman said on Wednesday, but Turkey isn't included in that aim. "Energy cooperation is one of the highest topics [of importance]," Mikhail Vanin, the Russian chairman of the BSEC, said in an interview. "Developing the relations of the BSEC with the European Union and diminishing the quantity of nuclear power stations in Europe and in the region [are among] our goals." Asked whether this applies to a nuclear plant set be built in Turkey by a Russian company linked to atomic energy giant Rosatom, Vanin replied, "I said Europe," indicating that Turkey is not included in this goal.
