Turkey steps up operations to northern Iraq

The General Staff stated yesterday that an air-supported, cross border land operation was initiated against the terrorist PKK on northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey. The statement added that the operation was carried out with 22 battalions, including commando, Gendarmerie Special Operations (JOH) and Special Forces on a total of five regions within Turkey and cross-border region on northern Iraq. In the statement, the General Staff also gives details of concurrent attacks carried out by the terrorist PKK on Wednesday.
