Turkey, Syria working on joint tourism project
Officials from the Association of Turkish Travel Agents (TURSAB) and the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Tourism convened in Damascus on Wednesday to discuss a project to jointly promote tourism in both countries. The project aims to help tourists, especially from the Far East, visit Turkey and Syria under a single program. Under the project, prices, border passage and accommodation standards would be similar in both countries. Under it, a tourist who visits the Syrian city of Aleppo would be able to visit the southeastern Turkish province of Gaziantep, near Aleppo, as part of a single package. Also, cities that are similar culturally, like Istanbul and Damascus, would be included in similar packages. Officials will meet again in the coming months to discuss the project in detail.
