Making a presentation at the Turkish Parliament's Planning and Budget Committee yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan said that Turkey was preparing to become the chair of the G20 and lead global economy. Noting that Turkey's term presidency is due to begin in 2015, Babacan said that Turkey would join the Troika in December 2013. Following his brief on international activities, Babacan shared export and import figures with members of the Parliament. Babacan informed that exports, excluding gold, will increase 3 points to reach 7.3 percent and imports to 4.2 percent. Stating that foreign trade deficit excluding gold trade is expected to decline to $89.2 billion, Babacan said current account deficit excluding gold will also narrow by $3.5 billion to amount to $50 billion.
