Turkey's newly appointed ambassador in Libya has become the first foreign ambassador to be approved by the new administration in Tripoli, with the Turkish Embassy also becoming operational and relations between Turkey and the new interim government being boosted. Turkey's ambassador to Libya, Ali Kemal Aydin, announced the arrival of the Turkish Embassy staff in Libya on Friday as the Turkish Embassy in the country became the first to be approved by the National Transitional Council (NTC).“A new era has begun in Libya, and I am happy to serve as the Turkish ambassador in this country at this time,” Aydin was quoted as saying by the Anatolia news agency upon his arrival in Tripoli on Friday. Speaking at a press conference with members of the NTC, the ambassador reiterated Turkey's offer of help to the interim government and repeated Turkey's official position in the Libyan transitional phase that the people of Libya should be in charge of defining the country's future. “Libya will have a bright future with its rich natural resources and young population,” Aydin told the press.
