Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz announced yesterday that Turkey has received more EU funds from a special budget allocated for the development of information and technology than it contributed in 2011. Attending a awards ceremony for the projects that will be endorsed under the Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Program (ICT-PSP) yesterday at the Ankara Vilayetler House, Yilmaz said this trend of getting more Turkish projects accepted by the EU for funding is very promising for the development of IC technologies in Turkey. He presented awards to the institutions and organization whose projects were approved by ICT-PSP. “That we have received more funds than we contributed to this EU funding is important because it shows Turkey's success in the field. Recalling that Turkey joined the ICT-PSP in 2009, contributing 944,100 Euros to the fund without receiving any grants that year, Yilmaz stated that Turkey's contribution in 2011 was 1.67 million € and, with this 160 percent increase, it received a grant of 2.6 million €.
