Turkey's role in defusing Iran crisis important, says Gul
Turkey's role in defusing tensions over Iran's controversial nuclear program is likely to top the agenda during President Abdullah Gul's trip to New York for UN General Assembly meetings and bilateral talks. "I think cooperation with Turkey as well as Turkey's efforts towards better understanding between Iran and the P5+1 (five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) will be discussed at the meetings," said Gul. Citing the international community's appreciation of Turkey's role in the Iranian nuclear issue, Gul said he didn't expect any criticism of Turkey's involvement.
