Turkish Brazilian businesspeople meet in Istanbul

Turkish and Brazilian businesspeople on Wednesday met in Istanbul as part of an event, hosted by the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) and the Brazilian-government sponsored Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and attended by hundreds of Turkish importers and entrepreneurs and 17 major Brazilian exporters. Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Brazilian Secretary of Foreign Trade Tatiana Prazeres said, "We have been enjoying good relations between the two countries in terms of civil aviation and airplane trade. Turkey is a country which has a say about the issue." Stating that important agreements about airplane trade have been reached between Brazil and Turkey in 2010, Prazeres said that her country has delivered its first airplane worth $8 million to Turkey in accordance with the agreement and that their aim was to increase this number to 40. "As part of this organization, representatives of 17 major Brazilian firms met with their Turkish counterparts operating in many areas extending from food to machinery, and medical instruments to leather products. We need to boost the current potential between the two countries. There are many things that we will learn from each other," Prazeresa added. Speaking for his part, Apex-Brasil President Mauricio Borges said that they have initiated urban transformation projects in Brazil on the occasion of the next Summer Olympics and the World Cup competition and Turkish companies were welcomed to establish partnership with them.
