Turkish cinema headed to Qatar for weeklong showcase
Seven films by Turkish directors will be offered to Qatari movie buffs in this month's Doha Turkish Film Festival, which will mark its second edition from June 20-26 in the Persian Gulf state's capital. Films to be shown include singer-turned-filmmaker Mahsun Kirmizigul's 2010 feature "New York'ta Bes Minare" (Five Minarets in New York), the recent World War I drama "Canakkale: Yolun Sonu" (Canakkale: The End of the Road), and the historical epic "Fetih 1453" (The Conquest 1453). Screenings will be held at the Villaggio Mall. Kirmizigul, who also starred in one of the leading roles in "Five Minarets," is expected to be in attendance at the event's June 20 opening gala, which will be followed by the film's screening.
