Turkish firm to provide secure satellite service to Greek army

The Greek Armed Forces will receive satellite phone service from a Turkish company, Globalstar Avrasya, which also provides service to 30 other countries. Globalstar satellite phones are seen as an ultra-secure communication tool, as their encryption technology makes them all but impervious to interception or wiretapping. After going into use in 13 Middle Eastern countries, the Turkish-made satellite phones were recently requested by a number of Eastern European and African countries. Greece and Finland have also signed agreements with the company to use the phones. Under the agreements, the phone's service will be available to subscribers in Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Libya, Egypt, Kuwait, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates
