Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is set to be the first international visitor to Libya’s National Transitional Council following what appears to be the rebel administration’s defeat of the decades-old regime of Col. Moammar Gadhafi. Announcing Monday that he would visit Libya the following day, Davutoglu also touched on other countries that are dealing with similar uprisings, saying the change of direction in the North African country should be a “lesson” for the rest of the region. “We want to call on all Libyan officials in Tripoli to be ready for a new Libya. We hope Libya will be reconstructed in the upcoming days, led by the National Transitional Council with the efforts of the international community,” Davutoglu told reporters in Addis Ababa on Monday. “The new Libya should be democratic, free and united in line with the Libyan people’s demands,” the foreign minister said, emphasizing the success of removing the dual administration in the country while calling for an end to clashes and the immediate launch of a political process that includes all parties.
