Turkey is preparing itself for a new initiative on "women politics" in the Middle East and Muslim countries. Upon the Arab Spring, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has added the goal of "Strengthening the Status of Women in the Middle East" in its Strategic Action Plan for 2014. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which works in collaboration with the OIC on this issue, asked Turkey to be the "role model" in women rights. Efforts have been initiated for the project which is planned to last for three years. The details of the project will be discussed in a meeting to be held in the headquarters of the OIC in Jeddah on November 8. A number of women politicians from the leading party and opposition parties will participate in the mentioned meeting and share their experience on being a female politician in Turkey.
