US deputy secretary of state to visit Turkey
US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns is set to visit Ankara today as the guest of Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioglu. Burns will also be received by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. As part of his contacts with Turkish officials, Burns is expected to discuss issues such as developments in Iran, Iraq and Syria, as well as ongoing cooperation in the missile defense system to be located in southeastern city of Malatya and bilateral relations between Turkey and the US. Furthermore, tension between Russian and NATO over the Russian missile defense system, commercial relations between the two countries and the Cyprus issue will be on the agenda during Burns’ contacts in Ankara.
