World Swimming Championshipa to kick off in Istanbul today

The 11th International Swimming Federation (FINA) World Swimming Championships, in other words, the Short Course Worlds, is set to kick off at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul today to run until December 16. As part of the championship to be attended by 917 sportspeople from 157 countries, Turkey will be represented by 26 swimmers. Sports Minister Suat Kilic and FINA President Julio Maglione held a joint press conference on Tuesday to evaluate the event, during which Kilic said that he was quite happy that the event has been organized in the historical and exciting city of Istanbul.
