Transportation, Maritime and Communication Minister Binali Yildirim stated that 16 firms have bought specifications for bids for the new airport to be built in Istanbul and they expected at least three strong bids. "It's great that 16 firms have bought specifications for the airport tender. It is a very big project, let's be realistic, we can't expect 8 or 10 bids. Three or more bids will be considered as success on our side," Yildirim said. Underlining that the new airport would be completed in four stages, Yildirim said that the airport would serve 90 million passengers in 5 years and its capacity would increase to 150 million passengers in the next three stages, in 25 years.
