Transportation, Maritime and Communication Minister Binali Yildirim yesterday attended opening ceremony of the new international terminal in Milas-Bodrum Airport. Speaking at the ceremony, Yildirim said his ministry has been making investments in Mugla, which extends on a coastline of 124 km and which is considerably important in Turkey’s tourism sector. Yildirim also held contacts with a delegation participating in the 2nd Somali Conference. Stating that Turkey has been following active politics in order to reestablish peace, confidence, stability and welfare on an area extending up to the Middle East, Caucasus and Northern Africa, Yildirim said that Turkey has also exerted efforts to improve and redevelop Somalia which has run out of resources due to domestic conflicts and problems. Yildirim pointed out to the global role played by Turkey, saying, "Turkey will make considerable contributions to removing the gap between developed and developing countries and ensuring global peace. Turkey is urging international society to develop infrastructure and other services in Africa."
