After controversial editorial, Simsek spurns the economist magazine

Despite having been an "avid reader," Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek announced on Saturday that he decided to "unfollow" The Economist after an editorial in the newsweekly calling on Turkish voters to vote for the opposition Republic People's Party (CHP). "Dear friends, after reading the shockingly prejudiced and blatantly politically motivated article about Turkey and Ak Parti [ruling Justice and Development Party] on The Economist … I've decided to Unfollow the Economist, one of very few publications I'd been following on twitter," Simsek said on his Twitter account.
