Turkey’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis yesterday visited a refugee camp in the southeastern province of Kilis along with EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva and Jean-Maurice Ripert, the head of the EU delegation in Ankara. "In Kilis, a city where civilization and humanity has emerged, Turkey is giving a civilization lecture to the world. We would like to call on the entire world to stop these atrocities. Those who remain a mere spectator to this are collaborators as well. As a result, we have to call on entire humanity so that friendship and peace prevails in Syria as soon as possible," Bagis said, praising Turkey’s efforts to shelter Syrians fleeing from violence. Bagis also thanked Georgieva for her efforts, saying, "We opened a chapter which is not present in the EU [accession] chapters, and that is a solidarity chapter."
