Barthalomew visits Alahan Monastery in Mersin

Fener Greek Patriarch Bartholomew yesterday visited the Alahan Monastery located in the Mut district of Mersin province where the restoration work is underway and expressed his gladness over the restoration work conducted in such an old place of worship. "We find our roots here. If this place was noticed, it would be included in the World Heritage List. I would like to thank the Ministry of Culture and Mersin Governor's Office for these efforts," Bartholomew said. Bartholomew also prayed at the monastery, and then proceeded to the Uckuyu village of Karaman province, where he also visited ruins of the historical church and enjoyed the food offered by local women.
