Stating that Turkey's exports has significantly increased in March 2012, Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said, "It is not an April 1 joke, but foreign sales volume totaled $12.6 billion in March. I'm not surprised; exporters' route is known to carry out exports totaling 150 billion dollars in 2012." Citing that that there was an increase by 658.3 percent in exports to Libya, 480.9 percent to Yemen, 193.7 percent to Bahrain, 102.4 percent to Egypt, 31.1 percent to Morocco and 16. 6 percent to Japan, Caglayan said that Turkey's total foreign sales to Germany totaled $1.273 billion, with $918 million to Iraq, $672 million to Britain, $630 million to Italy and $615 million to Russia last month. Stating that Turkey's exports each month breaks a record, Caglayan, said, "After February, our exports also broke records in March. Turkey's exports increased by 8.1 percent in March 2012, compared to the same month of last year, along with an increase by 7 percent, compared to the sales in February which have climbed to a total of 12.608 billion. Captured on a monthly basis, this figure is the second largest export figure in the history of Turkey. Those record-breaking exports result from the security and stability ensured in Turkey. Now our exporters are exporting our products all over the world. The records that are broken show that our market diversification strategy is successful and we are reaping its fruits." Stating that they want to break a new record, Caglayan added that they mainly aim to reach $500 billion worth of total exports by 2023.
