Cemil Cicek: We want to build a peaceful country for all
Delivering a speech at the anniversary ceremony of the Armenian Jamanak Journal held in a restaurant in Yildiz Park, Istanbul, Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek stated that they wanted to make Turkey a country in which every citizen feels safe and comfortable. Emphasizing that they wanted to the number of journals published in Armenian like Jamanak to increase and they believed such small steps would encourage democracy to flourish in Turkey. "We have been dealing issues related with democracy within Turkey and we have a long way to ride in this regard. We would like to extend basic human rights and freedoms for which we have been preparing a new constitution. We should and will exert every effort to create an atmosphere where no one feels unsafe no one is marginalized for their ethnicity, religion or language." Cicek noted. Underlining that peace and democracy were the two most important gifts for a country, Cicek concluded that Turkey should follow this path to be able to catch up with developed countries and to live in peace.
