Talks aimed at paving the way for a political settlement in Cyprus began at Greentree outside New York yesterday, under U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's supervision. Upon arrival at Greentree, Ban and the two leaders – Greek Cypriot administration leader Demetris Christofias and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu posed for journalists along with their wives. The trilateral summit is scheduled to last two days, and an announcement is expected to be made by Ban on Wednesday regarding the negotiation process.
