Speaking at the UN General Assembly yesterday, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday sent clear messages to the world on many issues. Speaking about the Arab-Israeli conflict, Erdogan said that there were hundreds of General Assembly decisions adopted on Israel, along with 89 Security Council resolutions, which Israel only shrugged off. "What is more painful is that the UN has been incapable of taking necessary steps to end the humanitarian tragedy suffered by Palestinians," said Erdogan. He said that Turkey has never taken a hostile stance against any state until now, but Israel has made a vital mistake to a friendly nation, namely, Turkey, and even continued to ignore its mistake. Touching upon the Greek Cypriot administration's oil and gas exploration activities in Mediterranean, Erdogan said that Turkey wouldn't allow the Greek Cypriot administration to act as if it's the sole administration on the island or authorized to make a decision on Turkish Cypriots. He also called on all relevant parties to exert effective efforts to end such initiatives carried out by the Greek Cypriot administration which are likely to cause tension not only on the island, but also in the entire region. Erdogan stressed that the UN should restructure itself and renew its vision in order to protect the laws of humanity without serving interests of a certain number of countries. He also criticized the international society's indifference to the tragedy in Somali, saying that those who don't hear the call for help from Somali cannot talk about peace, justice and civilization. Speaking about Syria, Erdogan said that each drop of blood which is shed in Syria hurts the bond between Syrian leadership and its people, adding that Turkey will continue to support democratic demands of both Syria and other countries and encourage other regimes to take steps towards this end. Erdogan also called on the international community to understand that Libya belongs to Libyans and that the richness of Libya belongs to the Libyans.
