Erdogan officialy launches 89 projects in Konya

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially launched 89 projects in Konya including the Blue Tunnel irrigation project aimed at channeling 414 million cubic meters of water from the Goksu River to Konya Plain and the Basbagi Dam. Stating that investments amounting to 10 billion TL have been made in Konya in the last decade, Erdogan said that the Konya Plain Project, which has been suspended before, was launched again during the term of his government. "As part of the Konya Plain Project, we have also completed the Derebucak and Professor Yilmaz Muslu Dams. Thanks to these projects, Konya basin will have a total of 649 million cubic meters of water. Once the project is fully completed, 1.1 million hectares of soil will be irrigated and 3 billion kilowatt/hours of energy will be produced annually," Erdogan said. The opening ceremony was also attended by Minister of Forestry and Water Works Veysel Eroglu, Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay, Health Minister Recep Akdag, Parliament members from Konya and Erdogan's daughter Sumeyye Erdogan.
