Extension of motion on counter-terrorism approved by parliament
Turkish Parliament approved the extension of a Prime Ministry motion to conduct military operations against terrorist PKK in northern Iraq for one more year. The motion was approved by votes of deputies of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). "Terrorist attacks and open threats from terrorist PKK groups sheltering in the north of Iraq still continue against the Turkish nation's peace and security, and against Turkey's national unity and territorial integrity," the motion said, adding that Turkey attaches a great importance to territorial integrity, national unity and stability of Iraq and exerted efforts for end of terrorist attacks targeting the country and eradication of PKK terrorists from the north of Iraq.
