Foreign Ministry condemns remarks by Iran's top soldier
Turkish Foreign Ministry yesterday issued a statement, strongly rejecting the remarks made by Iran's Chief of General Staff Hassan Firuzabadi, who said that Turkey, along with other supporters of the Syrian opposition, has Syrians' blood on their hand, and warned Turkey that it would be the next. The statement strongly rejected remarks by Firuzabadi as "baseless accusations and inappropriate threats" and called on Iranian officials to "stop making baseless statements on our country and act in line with the spirit of good neighborhood relations." The statement also said Turkey views the kidnapping of Iranian citizens in Damascus as a humanitarian issue and that Turkey would do all it can to help secure the release of the abducted Iranians. "Turkey is a country that acts in line with its goals and principles in its foreign policy and has a great State tradition. Iranian officials with whom we have neighborhood relations for centuries should first and foremost know and comprehend this fact," the statement added.
