Former RTUK head, 6 others detained in Deniz Feneri case
Former Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) head Zahid Akman and Zekeriya Karaman of private TV channel Kanal 7 were among seven detained yesterday in connection with a case involving corruption with a charity group known as Deniz Feneri. The detentions come nearly three years after Germany dealt with the Turkish-German group. In operations carried out in three Turkish provinces, the people were detained on charges of channeling 25 million euros in donations towards non-charitable ends with the help of Kanal 7 and Turkey's Deniz Feneri Association.
