German Presidental candidate calls or closer ties with Turkey

German presidential candidate Joachim Gauck yesterday sent warm and sincere messages to Turks. Speaking to Hurriyet daily, Gauck said that he has never been to Turkey, but he would like to visit Turkey and President Abdullah Gul, once he is elected the president. Stating that Germany and Turkey should be closer to each other, Gauck said that he wanted to further contribute to strengthening the ties between the two countries. Gauck added that he would maintain the integration policy which has been followed by current President Christian Wulff.
