Ladendijk: Turkish reform package has been welcomed in Brussels
Commenting on the reform packaged unveiled by the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, Joost Lagendijk, former co-chairman of the Turkey-EU Parliamentarians delegation, reported that the package has been welcomed in Brussels. Praising the government for making important steps towards a better democracy, Lagendijk said that lifting of restrictions on the wearing of headscarves in public service and the measures intended to keep alive the stalled Kurdish settlement process can be regarded as milestones in Turkish democracy. Lagendijk also noted that there are double standards in visa implementations between Turkey and the European Union which should be eliminated.
