Lagarde: "IMF needs a strong country like Turkey"

Cristine Lagarede, head of International Monetary Fund (IMF) has praised Turkey during her talks with Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan. Speaking at a seminar entitled "Innovation and  Social Responsibility in International Branding Strategies" within the scope of VI. Turquality Vision Seminars, Caglayan said yesterday that the General Electric decided to make Turkey be  its operation base. He pointed out that his ministry aimed to increase branded trade, stating that he wanted this for Turkey and its economy.  After attending the Turquality seminar,  Caglayan met with Lagarde in Istanbul yesterday. Holding talks with Lagarde, Caglayan said she had praised Turkey’s economy. "She considers Turkey as a success story in the crisis. She told me that Turkey does not need IMF, but that IMF needs a strong country like Turkey. She has also expressed her pleasure with Turkey’s success," Caglayan said.
