The deputy head of Libya’s National Transitional Council (NTC), Abdel Hafiz Goga, has underscored the significance of Turkey’s front row rush to help the Libyan people during their ongoing uprising with words that reflect Libya’s gratitude to the Turkish government for its aid, which came at a time when the Libyans’ ability to survive was put to the test by their iron-fisted ex-leader. “Turkey was the first country to extend help to those wounded in the war [the uprising], it was the first to come to our aid,” Goga was quoted by the Anatolia news agency from Benghazi on Tuesday. The deputy head, also the spokesperson for the NTC, noted, “We will never forget that.” Goga’s words come less than two days before Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Libya as the final destination of his tour.
