NATO gave the go-ahead on Tuesday to stationing Patriot surface-to-air missiles in Turkey to protect the country from any spillover of the civil war in neighbouring Syria. The exact details of the deployment and the number of batteries to be sent will be determined by NATO's military committee based on a report by a joint team that has been studying possible basing sites. In a statement made by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was highlighted that this decision is important in terms of the confirmation and implementation of solidarity and union of the alliance and it was emphasised that the measures are definitely not aiming attack but only precaution.
