New democracy package may surprise many, says Erdogan

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the content of the new democracy package that is due to be made public on Monday might surprise many. Speaking at a Ministry of Labor and Social Security event on Thursday, Erdogan said the package would be a significant phase in Turkey's democratization process, underlining that it would certainly not be the end, but a continuation of the 11-year reform period. "All the promises we made when establishing our party or during our party congresses, we will put them into practice with this reform package, since the conditions are favorable now. This was a road map and we will make the reforms and open new horizons for our nation and our country", Erdogan added. Erdogan also stressed that updating social and political reform packages continuously was a basic principle.
