Number of Israeli and Syrian tourists visiting Turkey increases

The number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey has increased by 22.5 percent, compared to the same period of last year. The number of visitors traveling to Turkey between January and March 2013 has climbed to 4.214 million. The figure indicates an increase compared to the last year, when the figures showed 3.439 million. In the first three months of the year the highest increase was seen in visitors from Syria. The number of Syrian tourist visiting Turkey increasing by 2.3 percent, and thus 318,108 million Syrian came to Turkey in the first quarter of the year. There was also a huge increase in the number of Israeli tourists. The number of Israeli tourists visiting Turkey between January and March 2013 reached 20.268 million with an increase approximately 11.3 percent compared to the same period of last year.
