Ricciardone supports Turkey's stance on Syria
In a meeting with representatives from TV channels in Ankara, US Ambassador to Ankara Francis Ricciardone said the US sees no possibility of war between Turkey and Syria and that it is on the same page with Turkey on the Syrian issue. Answering a question about the intelligence over a Syrian plane which was grounded by Turkey, Ricciardone said that he couldn't comment on any specific allegations or rumors of specific intelligence cooperation. He added that they were only providing Turkey with the intelligence but it was analyzed only by Turkey, and that it's Turkey which decides how to use the intelligence. Ricciardone also expressed his disappointment with frequent references to Washington's unwillingness in the fight against the terrorist PKK, saying that he felt sorry and angered by these sorts of suspicions. “This makes our enemy successful in placing suspicion between the allies. This might give hope to our enemies," he stressed. As to the level of cooperation in fighting against the PKK, the ambassador said the US offered its tactics and intelligence, which America conducted in Bin Laden operation, to the Turkish government to take effective results. "We have kept our offer to the government of Turkey to share what we call our TTP - not only intelligence, but our tactics, our techniques, and our procedures. So without divulging necessarily secret details of what we do with your government, we offer the benefit of our experience and our technology to the Turkish side if they wish to use it in going after a common enemy." Ricciardone added.
