Schroder asks Merkel to ensure Turkey's full EU membership

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder, in an article for the Ciceromagazine, called on his successor Angela Merkel to ensure that Turkey is eventually allowed to be become a full EU member. Schroder wrote that at a time in which the EU suffers a deep crisis and needs partners, Turkey, which is a close ally, might turn its face away. Schroder also noted that they should benefit from the opportunity of the full integration of such a gradually growing economy into the EU.
