The Syrian National Council (SNC) has named an envoy to Turkey. According to diplomatic sources, the new representative, Abdo Husameddin, took office last week. Husameddin is the former Syrian oil minister who defected from the regime in March and joined rebels. As the new envoy was appointed, the new office launched recently has officially come into effect. The Syrian National Council, based in Cairo, Egypt, had also named envoys to France and Great Britain previously and these representatives are the official ambassadors of SNC but the newly appointed envoy to Turkey has no such status. The Syrian National Council also wants to name a military representative in Turkey but it was reported that Turkey does not welcome such efforts.
