Turkey - Africa media forum opens
The first Turkey-African Media forum organized by Directorate General of Press and Information opened yesterday in Ankara. Three hundred journalists from 55 African countries participated in the three-day event, which is being held under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Bulent Arinc. “Our people, who belong to a land where the disease of racism could never spread, see the African people as brothers and sisters. We are not like Western countries, which only do things on paper. Sharing a common culture and history, Turkey and Africa can shape future together based upon their common interests," Arinc said at his opening speech. It is expected that the forum will not only provide an opportunity for comprehensive information sharing and exchange of views, but also create professional solidarity among media institutions and journalists through forming a common platform and communication channels.
